San Diego Chargers - Team History:

The San Diego Chargers first had some success in the 1960's with Lance Alworth but it did take them more than a decade later to join the elite teams in the league as they put together one of the greatest offensive teams that ever played. Led by Dan Fouts at quarterback the Chargers in the early 1980's could score at will. The big problem was that there defense was not very good and the team often lost games 48-45. Dan Fouts distributed the ball to greats like Wes Chandler, Charlie Joiner, Kellen Winslow, Chuck Muncie, and James Brooks. The team consistently made the playoffs, but often lost when things went bad for the offense. The biggest heart breaking loss came to the Bengals in 1981 after the Chargers had gutted out a close win against the Dolphins. The weather in Cincinnati was ice cold and the offense couldn't move the ball. They lost and the Bengals eventually lost to the 49ers in the SuperBowl that year.

So much for the past, the current San Diego Chargers have an explosive offense once again with LaDanian Tomlinson at running back and tight end Antonio Gates scoring TD's. Tomlinson is a highlight reel that never quits and young QB Philip Rivers has proven is worth already. Time will tell if they can continue their winning ways, but the players are young and the team is excited about their prospects. You can visit the team online at Chargers.com and the website is loaded with injury reports, trade talks, schedules, stats, standings, a complete year by year history with Hall of Fame players. Give your opinion in the fan forum or read up on the latest news that the team puts out. You can watch highlights from the most recent games with video feeds or just check out official game photos of the top plays. Sign up for the email newsletter or join the Fan Club. Let's hope the Chargers eventually get their due, they got blasted in the SuperBowl against the Niners in the 90's but the 2007 team looks like they could change history and have a chance at a title.

San Diego Chargers Cheerleaders:

The Charger Girls, as they are called, are the dynamic San Diego Chargers Cheerleading squad. There are roughly 28 ladies that make up the team/squad and cheer on the Chargers each week. If you go to the Chargers.com website and look under the "charger girls" section you will find all the girls listed with a full size wallpaper image that you can download to your computer for free. The images are high quality and have a bio about the girl on them. The Charger Girls Calendar is available online for $12 with pictures of the cheerleaders in swimsuits. The 18 month calendar is just the gift for any guy who likes the San Diego Chargers. There is even a Junior Charger Girls section and information on how to request an appearance of all or some of the girls to your area.

San Diego Chargers Wallpaper Images:

Wallpaper images are what I collect of the Chargers and I love seeing new ones of the latest players. For official wallpaper pictures of the San Diego Charger players go to http://www.chargers.com/fan_zone/wallpaper.htm. The official Chargers website carries wallpaper photos of LaDanian Tomlinson, Philip Rivers, Shawne Merriman, and Antonio Gates. There is also an updated screensaver in the Fan Zone section of the site which features the latest plays, videos, and more. The desktop wallpapers are available for download for free and you can download them right to your computer. Other fan sites down below also carry high resolution wallpaper pics too.

Tickets, Jerseys, and Fan Sites:

There are no season tickets available for the Chargers, although you can get on a waiting list which goes on a first come first serve basis. Most individual game tickets run from $50 to $100 with some of the Club Level seats costing much more. There is a nice PDF of the stadiums seating chart at http://www.chargers.com/assets/152/29670.pdf. Qualcomm Stadium is a hot ticket so try Ebay or StubHub for scalped tickets. How about all the merchandise and team apparel for sale? You can shop online at Chargersproshop.com and buy things like authentic jerseys, replica jerseys, hats, jackets, and sweatshirts. All NFL gear is expensive so expect to spend a minimum of $200 on an NFL jersey. A true fan of the Lightning Bolts wants to follow the team 24/7 and online fan sites are a great way to do this. We recommend 3 in particular - Chargerfans.net, Glorifythepast.com, and Bolttalk.com. All offer something different, but mostly it gives you a chance to read message boards on the hottest topics and even submit your own thoughts.
