Dallas Cowboys - Team History:
The Dallas Cowboys are often referred to as "America's Team" and that still holds true for the most part. The franchise has a very successful The Cowboys first joined the league in 1960 and head coach Tom Landry became a staple on the sidelines with suit and hat. With past Hall of Fame players like Roger Staubach, Tony Dorsett, Mel Renfro, Randy White, and future bets like Troy Aikman, Michael Irvin, and Emmitt Smith the Cowboys seem to have been contenders for decades. Aikman led the team to 3 Super Bowl titles and eventually retired due to concussions. Emmitt Smith became the leading rusher of all-time passing Walter Payton. I remember watching the Cowboys take on the Pittsburgh Steelers back in the 1970's and I instantly fell for the team with Staubach at quarterback.
Today, the team has Tony Romo at quarterback, Terrell Owens at Wide receiver and a solid defense that make take this team to the Super Bowl. The NFC is looking for a team to compete with the powerhouse AFC and the Cowboys may be able to do that. They suffered a pretty bad loss earlier to the Patriots but hope to rebound and continue strong into the playoffs. They play their homes games Texas Stadium, the stadium with a hole in the roof. A new stadium is in the plans for 2011 which will be even bigger and have a retractable roof.
